Predictions in english Чемпионат Англии от bbc
Суббота, 13 Март 2010

Tottenham v Blackburn (kick-off 1245 GMT)

Spurs v Blackburn

Blackburn have not been very successful on the road this season. Manager Sam Allardyce is likely to keep them up by virtue of their home form. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez's comments about Blackburn's negative style of play following the Reds' 2-1 win over Rovers at Anfield will not bother Allardyce.

In many ways it is a back-handed compliment. They will make it hard for Tottenham, as they did at Anfield, but ultimately the home side will have too much for them.

It remains to be seen who is fit for Tottenham, as midfielders Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon are all suffering from injuries. But they are a side who are capable of creating a lot of chances, certainly enough to trouble Rovers. Like Blackburn, Tottenham are also very good at home. They may be missing a few players, and they have the distraction of the FA Cup, but their form is good and a top-four finish is in their sights.

Prediction: 2-0
Match preview

Birmingham v Everton

Birmingham v Everton

Both teams are on good runs at the moment. They are next to each other in the league, with Birmingham eighth and Everton ninth, which adds extra importance to the game. I think this will be tight. Birmingham's 2-1 win at Portsmouth on Tuesday after losing there in the Cup was a good result. They've had such a good season - nobody has mentioned relegation with relation to them since September so that tells you all you need to know about their achievements. City manager Alex McLeish came in for criticism from his own supporters at the start of the season regarding their style of play but he has stayed true to a game-plan that is designed so they are solid defensively and they don't get turned over.

For Everton, midfielder Mikel Arteta and defender Phil Jagielka are back from long term injuries and Toffees boss Moyes has had no qualms in throwing them straight back into the team. Instead of being circumspect he's recognised the quality the pair bring and wanted to get them in as soon as possible, get them match-fit and the team has been better off for it.

Prediction: 1-1
Match preview

Bolton v Wigan

Bolton v Wigan

I was at the DW Stadium on Monday for Wigan's 1-0 win over Liverpool and the Latics were fully deserving of their victory. Yes, Liverpool were poor but Wigan contributed to that by playing so well. The only problem for them is their consistency. They have had stand-out results this season but in the next game they have capitulated.

Bolton gained a good victory at West Ham last Saturday, winning 2-1, but got beat 4-0 at Sunderland midweek. However, at home they are a strong side and that advantage should see them win this one. Wigan are a big, strong, athletic team and Bolton, for all their physical threat, won't push them over but too often to the detriment of the Athletic team, some individuals indulge themselves and it has proven costly on occasion.

Prediction: 2-1
Match preview

Burnley v Wolves

Burnley v Wolves

Some games are more important than others and this represents a huge match for both these teams. Having suffered a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last Saturday, Burnley came back from a goal down against Stoke on Wednesday to claim a point which demonstrates there is nothing wrong with their spirit. Three of their next four games are at home, starting with this one, and they know how important these matches are if they are to survive the drop. Because they are at home I'm going to back them to win.

This is a Wolves team who performed very well against Manchester United last weekend, despite losing 1-0, but they missed chances yet again. When Wolves get beat it seems to be the same way every week, which is that they have lots of opportunities to score but lack the cutting edge to capitalise on them and then lose concentration defensively and concede. In the Championship they could get away with this far more than in the Premier League and I can see it costing them again.

Prediction: 2-1
Match preview

Chelsea v West Ham

Chelsea v West Ham

West Ham were rolled over so easily last week by Bolton it was frightening. This week they are playing a team who are much better than Bolton; who are as physical as Wanderers, but are sprinkled with world class players. Even though it is a London derby which should dictate West Ham battle hard I can't see the Hammers getting anything. West Ham have made the right noises about wanting to claim points here but they know in terms of survival, it is the teams in the bottom half that they have to beat.

Chelsea will see their 4-2 loss to Manchester City a fortnight ago as a setback after developing a very good run of form at home. Chelsea will not be distracted by the upcoming Champions League tie with Inter Milan on Tuesday. It doesn't happen to big teams - the big games come thick and fast in March for top sides. If they hold a comfortable lead with 20 minutes to go, they may take the likes of Drogba, Anelka or Lampard off but it will be a strong Chelsea side from the off. Too strong for West Ham.

Prediction: 2-0
Match preview

Stoke v Aston Villa

Stoke v Aston Villa

Stoke continue to progress very nicely, regularly picking up points to maintain their mid-table place. They gave Chelsea a very good game in the Cup last week before going down 2-0 and picked up a point at Burnley on Wednesday. They are at home and they beat Villa at the Britannia last season in their first campaign back in the Premier League. They are a match for any side on their own turf.

Villa are going to have a lot of fixtures coming up because of their relative success in the cup competitions and that may be problematic to them as they tend to play the same side week in, week out. But Villa are strong and very mentally resolute, as we saw at Reading last week. I can see them getting a point.

Prediction: 1-1
Match preview

Hull v Arsenal (kick-off 1730 GMT)

Hull v Arsenal

My bet on Arsenal to win the league looks fantastic now. The Gunners are a team full of form, running and creativity. The way they move the ball around at speed makes this an extremely tough game for Hull. Arsenal know against the majority of the teams in the Premier League they can play without Cesc Fabregas (who will almost certainly miss the match with a hamstring injury). Fabregas is undoubtedly a top class player, but Samir Nasri is not far behind him and the chances Andre Arshavin creates alone is frightening.

Hull got hammered 5-1 at Everton last week and they completely capitulated once Everton had taken a 2-1 lead. Despite that though, Hull should not lose hope as there are a number of teams in the relegation fight and some good results would quickly lift them out of the scrap. Bolton had two recent, back-to-back wins and went to 14th. The one thing in Hull's favour is that they've been in this situation before, last season. They know what it takes but they are playing arguably the form team in the league.

Prediction: 0-2
Match preview

SUNDAY:

Man Utd v Fulham (kick-off 1330 GMT)

Man Utd v Fulham

Sir Alex Ferguson has a number of players he can bring in should he feel any of his first team are suffering fatigue after the Champions League match with Milan on Wednesday. That said, I was at Old Trafford for the 4-0 win over the Italians and United were not worked hard by what is the worst AC Milan I've ever seen.

The problem for Fulham is that this game comes off the back of an away game with Juventus on Thursday in the Europa League. They will give it their all to keep in touch with Juve in the first leg, believing they can knock them out in the second leg at Craven Cottage. As good as Fulham are, as good as their manager is and as organised as they are in defence I simply don't see them troubling United.

Prediction: 2-0
Match preview

Sunderland v Man City (kick-off 1600 GMT)

Sunderland v Man City

Sunderland had a good win midweek, beating Bolton 4-0, to get the monkey off their back of not having won in 14 league matches. That was a great result for them and Darren Bent continued what has been an excellent goalscoring return for him this season. Confidence levels will undoubtedly have been raised amongst the Sunderland players as a result and I think this will be reflected in the performance and scoreline on Sunday.

This is a Manchester City team who never fully convince when they play away from home. Saying that, last time out they won 4-2 at Chelsea and have had a few days off to recover. However, they were poor in the first half and Roberto Mancini has yet to fully stamp his authority on the team. I don't think the results they have achieved under the Italian so far are any different from those they would probably have attained had Mark Hughes remained manager.

Prediction: 1-1
Match preview

MONDAY

Liverpool v Portsmouth (kick-off 2000 GMT)

Liverpool v Portsmouth

After the result against Wigan, this is quite simply a game that Liverpool have to win if they are to have any chance of finishing fourth. I don't think it will be pretty, but I do expect Liverpool to win. The Reds supporters realise that losing games is something that happens but when you lose playing negative football it is a different story. If I were manager Rafa Benitez I would have my tin hat on and be demanding fight from my players to win games.

The pressure is off Portsmouth a little bit now that administration has essentially sealed their relegation. They won 2-1 at Burnley and then beat Birmingham 2-0 in the Cup, but then they suffered a bit of a reality check midweek in the league fixture with Alex McLeish's side, going down 2-1 at home. With the exception of a few players this is a very ordinary Liverpool team but they should have enough to beat Portsmouth.

Prediction: 2-0
