Predictions in english Чемпионат Англии от BBC
Пятница, 30 Апрель 2010

SATURDAY

Birmingham v Burnley (1245 BST)

Birmingham v Burnley

Birmingham have had a great season and have hugely exceeded expectation, but it's petered out a bit, so for them this will be a way of saying thank you to the fans.

As for Burnley, with two games left, it's a case of what could have been - they'll be looking at the likes of Wolves who came up with them and seeing how different things are there.

They'll be going back down to the Championship richer from the experience, and also richer as a club which gives them a great chance of coming back up. They'll also be playing for new contracts or even new clubs, as they've got a few players like Chris Eagles who've certainly shown they've got what it takes in the Premier League.

Prediction: 2-1

Match preview

Man City v Villa

Manchester City v Aston Villa

I'll go for City to edge this one - the only reason I'm hesitant is they have been a bit nervy in defence recently.

They played for a point against Manchester United, when they lost to a last-minute goal, and definitely last week when they drew at Arsenal. They need to get back on the winning trail and they can put Villa out of the race for fourth place in this game, so it will be tight.

Villa's Richard Dunne will be going back to his old club with a real feeling that he was cast aside earlier than necessary.

The problem for Villa is that decisions change games, and that in turn can change a season - the decision not to send off Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic in the Carling Cup final was a massive one that went against them, and it shows how marginal things can be.

Villa have got better year on year, which is all you can ask for, but their supporters think they have got a divine right to trophies, which is not the case - just ask Arsenal, who are a better team than Villa.

Prediction: 2-1

Match preview

Portsmouth v Wolves

Portsmouth v Wolves

This is a real shop window game for Portsmouth's players, even more than Burnley's game is for them, because of their financial situation.

In relation to the FA Cup final, I don't think anybody with knocks and bruises will be risked - Avram Grant knows the team he wants to play against Chelsea, and he might protect one or two.

As for Wolves, they have done extremely well, they tried all sorts of different combinations throughout the season before they realised Kevin Doyle up front on his own was the way forward. They are only going to get stronger.

Prediction: 1-2

Match preview

Stoke v Everton

Stoke v Everton

From what we've heard, Stoke are clearly a team who aren't lacking in fight, but having got to safety early, they are reminding me of how Charlton used to be under Alan Curbishley - they get to 40ish points and safety, and then they switch off.

As for Everton, they have had a great run since they got all their players back.

Prediction: 1-1

Match preview

Tottenham v Bolton

Tottenham v Bolton

Tottenham came unstuck last week at Old Trafford, but they still look very strong, they've got great home form and a real chance of finishing fourth.

Bolton will approach things differently now they are safe and maybe field one or two more attacking players, but Spurs will have too much for them.

Prediction: 2-0

Match preview

SUNDAY

Liverpool v Chelsea (1330 BST)

Liverpool v Chelsea

This one is hard to call as so much will depend on the outcome of Liverpool's Europa League semi-final with Atletico Madrid on Thursday, and how players come through that.

They could be looking at the prospect of being in a Cup final but they have got to go for fourth in the Premier League table - and they've only had two home defeats all season - but there's no Fernando Torres up front now, and somehow I feel by hook or by crook, Chelsea will win it.

Prediction: 1-2

Match preview

Fulham v West Ham (1500 BST)

Fulham v West Ham

With Fulham, again it is hard to call because we do not know how things will turn out in their Europa League game, but for West Ham the pressure is off, and daft results happen when that is the case.

One thing we do know is that it will be all change at West Ham in the summer, and I expect Gianfranco Zola will be one of those who walks away from Upton Park.

In the past I've accused co-owner David Sullivan of being too hands on and putting pressure on when they need results, but I think he is right with his comments about everyone other than Scott Parker being up for sale - they have got to completely take apart and rebuild the squad for next season, and it won't be Zola in charge of it.

Prediction: 1-2

Match preview

Sunderland v Manchester United (1600 BST)

Sunderland v Manchester United

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce could effectively kill off his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson's title hopes here. There is no pressure on Sunderland, they could have striker Kenwyne Jones back and in Darren Bent, they have got someone in outstanding form, so it should be a really open game - but United will win.

They won't be worried about how they play, all that matters is the result. I've always felt United will win their last three games, so the title will come down to whether Chelsea can do the same?

Prediction: 0-2

Match preview

MONDAY

Blackburn v Arsenal

Blackburn v Arsenal

Blackburn's home form has been top drawer, but the most interesting thing about this game will be what sort of team manager Arsene Wenger picks - will he give some of the youngsters a chance?

This summer Arsenal have got a bit of money to spend, and they have said they hope to get their new signings sorted out before the World Cup. Managers know you don't buy someone who has a great World Cup as the price goes up and they almost always struggle.

He needs a goalkeeper, a centre back and maybe another centre forward - if they can do that, they'll have a real crack at winning the league next year.

Prediction: 1-1

Match preview

Wigan v Hull

Wigan v Hull

This could have been a monster game for both clubs but with how things have turned out, it's been tough for Hull - and it has been for 18 months now.

I know George Boateng made a big deal the other day about what happened in the Manchester City game last season and how that caused all the problems, but you don't need to say that - why didn't he say it at the time?

Hull have got nothing to play for as they are all but relegated, and Wigan may be looking at dismantling their side. Hugo Rodallega and Maynor Figueroa may leave Wigan but manager Roberto Martinez will be better for this season, he's had a real learning experience.

Prediction: 2-1, and possibly not the biggest crowd of the day.
